At BVS, we are proud to be the only veterinary practice in the tri-state area to offer housecall visits for dogs and cats.
For owners with multiple pets, pets that are difficult to transport, or pets who become very stressed and anxious at the veterinary clinic, housecall visits may be a more convenient and less stressful option for you and your furry family members.
Our mobile veterinarians do home visits in West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky and can travel up to an hour or more from our clinic if needed – we have housecall clients in areas as far-ranging as Huntington, Barboursville, Milton, Hurricane and Teays Valley in WV as well as Catlettsburg and Ashland in KY and Chesapeake, Proctorville and South Point in OH.
If you have questions about our service areas, please feel free to call! We will be glad to work with you in any way we can.
We offer the following housecall services:
We are pleased to be able to provide your pet’s complete annual wellness visit in the comfort of your home. Our veterinarians can perform a full physical exam, vaccinations, and routine blood and fecal testing without the need for a trip to the clinic. We can also provide flea and heartworm medication for your pet, if needed.
For minor injuries or unexpected illness, a housecall visit may be more convenient and less stressful than a trip to the veterinary hospital. Our mobile veterinarians are fully equipped to treat minor ailments in your home, such as:
- mild vomiting/diarrhea
- coughing or sneezing
- ear infections
Although our housecall schedule is not always predictable from day to day, we will make every effort to ensure that your pet is seen within 24 hours if he/she is injured or sick. Some problems are too severe to be adequately treated at home – if we believe that your pet may require x-rays, hospitalization or emergency diagnostic testing, we will let you know and help to make arrangements for transport to our clinic if needed (see below).
When the time comes to consider euthanasia, many pet owners prefer to say goodbye in the comfort and privacy of their homes rather than making a trip to the veterinary hospital. Our veterinarians take special care with every euthanasia appointment, and we work hard to ensure that your pet’s experience is peaceful and stress-free.
We can also help with aftercare following the euthanasia, if you wish – we work closely with Rome Pet Cemetery in Proctorville, OH and can arrange transport and cremation services if needed.
Transport to clinic
We recognize that for some pet owners, driving your pet to the clinic may be difficult or impossible due to health problems, lack of transportation, or difficulty lifting or handling the pet during a car ride. For your convenience, we are happy to pick up and transport your pet to our hospital for surgical or dental procedures, advanced diagnostic testing, or hospitalization. Sedation is also available for very anxious or aggressive pets, if needed.
